MA KELLY'S DOORSTEP Attic Theatre Company, Tour
Director
MA KELLY PLAYS IT SAFE

These are two plays devised by Jenny Lee of the Attic Theatre Company, and written by Jane James. They are created to be simply staged in social venues around London, and are farcical comedies with songs. But they also deliver some information and warnings of certain dangers that the Police and Fire Services need us to impart. Philip helped to workshop the second play, and between 2006 and 2010 has re-cast and redirected three separate tours of MA KELLY'S DOORSTEP and two of MA KELLY PLAYS IT SAFE.

While being entirely responsible for Artistic Policy and Administration for Crewe Theatre, Philip was also Licensee and performed the duties of Manager from March till July each year, when the theatre was host to visiting companies. Although faced with a 30% rise in Equity minimum rates the year he took over, against a rise of only 19% in grant - Philip increased the activities of the theatre, and achieved an increase in Box Office receipts for each of the years he held office. Box Office receipts on his final year were 46% higher than in any previous year in the theatre's history.
